If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s how to adapt and evolve. Whether you run a café, manage operations for a large hotel or work in the care industry, a review of cleaning practices should be high on the to-do list.

With fluctuating protocols and the emergence of new COVID-19 variants, it’s up to the hospitality and care industry to set high cleaning standards to keep the community safe and businesses open.

Door handles, tabletops, chairs, EFT machines, and other surfaces that are regularly touched by many different people several times a day are all high touch hard surfaces that could lead to virus transmission.

Whether your cleaning regime is once a day or once a week, you want to know that you are minimising the risk of COVID-19 spreading among those vital to your business – staff, customers, guests, and residents.

The good news is that Australian developed hospital-grade disinfectants are available to not only meet Government recommended cleaning guidelines but exceed them.

Aeris Defence and Aeris Active are TGA approved disinfectants that protect hard surfaces from bacteria and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, and provide lasting protection for up to 7 days.

The 7-day lasting protection means that surfaces cleaned with Aeris Environmental solutions will remain hygienic and protected against COVID-19 for up to a week, even between scheduled cleans.

For advanced and effective cleaning of wet areas such as bathrooms and food preparation spaces, HACCP approved Aeris Active targets and kills mould and mildew and removes surface discolouration.

Cleaning tips for hard surface protection

  1. Review cleaning frequency – Think about the high, medium, and low touch surfaces and plan cleaning frequency accordingly.
  2. Two-step process: Effective disinfection involves first cleaning the surface and then applying disinfectant to the clean surface. If a surface is dirty, pathogens can escape the disinfectant in the debris and can multiply. An initial clean removes most of the debris, allowing the disinfectant to be more effective when applied.
  3. Leave wet – With any basic disinfectant, the product must be wet on the surface for between one and 15 minutes. Check the product packaging or the Instructions for Use (IFU) for the time required for individual products, as well as information about compatibility with other products.
  4. TGA listed products – Only products that have been rigorously tested and proven to kill bacteria and viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, Influenza and Norovirus are listed with the TGA. The TGA website also provides information about specific uses for individual disinfectants.
