Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) is a not-for-profit, membership-based organisation with a mission to promote environmentally preferable products and services.

When you purchase products and services with the GECA Environmental Choice Australia Ecolabel, your purchase is supporting environmentally preferable production and consumption. Under GECA certification, products and services are certified against minimum environmental performance criteria across its life cycle to ensure that certified products deliver better environmental outcomes.

GECA standards are rigorous, scientific and relevant to key Australian industries. They are designed to reward top performing products and are internationally recognised through GECA’s membership of the Global Ecolabelling Network.

Circular economy. where design, production, consumption, re-use and recycling supports our people, planet and profits.
A sustainable life cycle of our products provides the basis of a balanced, healthy economy

GECA’s ecolabel on products provides an independent tick to specifiers and purchasers that the products are better for the environment and reduce their impact on human health.

As the pioneers in Australian ecolabelling, GECA follows the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 14024 standard for labelling. ISO 14024 sets out the global principles and procedures GECA then uses to develop their own standards for GECA ecolabels.

GECA’s comprehensive standards are designed to recognise environmentally responsible products and services. They adhere to global best practice when assessing, testing and independently auditing products, materials and services for the Australian market.

Why we need GECA certified products

In the past, unsustainable actions have had a negative impact on the environment, and unless we act now, these impacts will only worsen. We want to live and work in clean, healthy and environmentally responsible spaces, and thankfully GECA can help you achieve this.

GECA keeps up with the latest in sustainability to show manufacturers how to best create green products. At the same time, we’re showing consumers across Australia how easy it is to make a good choice, with their easily recognisable and trustworthy ecolabel.

So, when you purchase a GECA certified product, you know you are buying a product that was created to allow for sustainable consumption and production. Have confidence in their purchasing decisions, and trust GECA certified products to be healthier, safer, and better for the environment.
